Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026. Outpost has no accounts and does not ask for personal information to read the site.
Advertising
Outpost may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where permitted. You can manage this at Google Ad Settings. Where the law requires consent, for example in the EEA and the UK, Google’s consent message is used before personalised ads are shown.
Hosting
Outpost is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address and request details such as the page and browser type when you load a page, and may keep them in standard server logs.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It works without cookies.
Fonts
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google’s servers when a page loads.
Newsletter
If you subscribe by email, your address is handled by Buttondown and used to send the briefing. The sign-up form submits directly to Buttondown, so Buttondown’s own privacy policy applies to that step. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Browser storage
Outpost stores a few preferences in your browser only, and sends them nowhere: your colour theme and which items you have ticked on the daily checklist, plus, for the length of your visit only, whether you chose the Headlines view.
Live updates
Some pages refresh themselves while they are open in a visible tab: the Breaking page asks for new items about once a minute, and other pages check about every five minutes whether a newer edition is available. These requests go only to outpostdaily.com, ask for public data and send no personal information beyond the ordinary request details described under Hosting.
Links to other sites
Stories and desk items link to outlets, social media posts, tools and forums run by others. They have their own privacy practices.
